Spin a wheel of names
A name picker wheel makes random choices you can see. Everyone watches the same spin, so the result feels fair — whether you’re calling on students, choosing who presents first, or drawing a winner.
Add names. Copy a column of names from a spreadsheet or class list and paste it in. Each line becomes a name.
Spin. Press SPIN or the Space bar. Go fullscreen to show a whole room.
Keep going. Picked names leave the wheel and appear in order in the Picked list. Put them back for a new round.
Ways to use it
- Classrooms
- Cold-call fairly, pick reading turns, or choose who answers next.
- Meetings
- Set stand-up order or choose who takes notes without anyone choosing.
- Giveaways
- Draw winners from entrant names on a stream or at an event.
- Games & chores
- Decide who goes first, who picks the movie, or whose turn it is.

Name picker questions
How do I pick a random name?
Paste your list of names into the box on the right — one name per line — then press SPIN or the Space bar. The wheel stops on a random name and adds it to the Picked list.
How do I stop the same name being picked twice?
Leave “Remove each name after it’s picked” turned on. Each name leaves the wheel once it comes up, so everyone gets a turn before anyone is picked again. Press “Put names back” to start a new round.
Can I pick several names at once?
Yes. Enter how many you need and press “Pick in a row”. The wheel spins once for each name and lists them in the order they were picked — useful for turn order or several winners.
Is the name picker fair?
Every name has an equal chance on each spin. Results come from your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, and the pointer always lands on the name that was picked.
Will my list still be there next time?
Yes. Your names and picked list are saved in your browser, so the wheel is ready the next time you open this page on the same device.
How many names can I add?
As many as you like. A class of 30 fits well; with more names the labels get smaller, so use Fullscreen on a projector.
