How do I make random teams?
Paste your names — one per line or separated by commas — choose how many teams you want, and press MAKE TEAMS. Press SHUFFLE AGAIN for a new random split.
Can I set how many people are on each team?
Yes. Switch to “People per team” and enter a number. If the names don’t divide evenly, the generator makes the number of teams closest to that size, and team sizes never differ by more than one.
Are the teams really random?
Yes. Names are shuffled with an unbiased Fisher–Yates shuffle using your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, then dealt out to the teams in turn.
Can I use it for random groups in class?
Yes — paste your class list and choose the number of groups. The same tool works for breakout rooms, sports teams, study groups, and party games.
Can I copy the teams?
Press “Copy teams” to copy every team as text, ready to paste into a chat, document, or slide.
