How the flip works, and what to expect from randomness.
How does this coin toss work?
Tap the coin, press FLIP, or press the Space bar. The coin spins in the air and lands on heads or tails. Each side has exactly a 50% chance.
Is the online coin flip truly random?
Yes. Every toss uses your browser’s cryptographic random number generator (the Web Crypto API), so heads and tails are equally likely and previous flips never affect the next one.
Is a real coin toss 50/50?
Not quite. Research by Persi Diaconis and later experiments found a real flipped coin lands on the side it started on slightly more often — about 51% of the time. A digital toss has no such bias.
Can I use it for a cricket or sports toss?
Yes. It’s a quick, neutral way to decide who bats or bowls first, who kicks off, or which side picks first. Call heads or tails before you flip so everyone sees the result together.
How do I do a best of 3 coin flip?
Choose Best of, pick 3, 5, or 7, and press START MATCH. Keep flipping until heads or tails reaches the winning score — 2 for best of 3 — and the scoreboard shows who won.
Can I flip more than one coin at once?
Yes. Choose Many coins and flip 2, 3, 5, 10, or 100 coins together. You’ll see every coin plus a heads and tails count — flipping 100 is a quick way to see that results land near 50/50.
Does it keep track of my results?
Yes. Your heads and tails totals, the percentage split, your current streak, and your last 30 flips are saved in your browser. Press Reset to start over.
Why did I get the same side several times in a row?
Streaks are normal with true randomness. In 10 flips there’s roughly a 50% chance of seeing four or more of the same side in a row. Over hundreds of flips the split settles close to 50/50.
Does it work offline or on my phone?
Yes. It works on phones, tablets, and computers, and keeps working without a connection once the page has loaded.
